Based in Bangalore, Ultraviolette Automotive is a fledgling Indian EV manufacturer aiming to disrupt the motorcycle industry as we know it today via the release of a sleek, ultra-high-tech, and decently-capable eBike with a shockingly accessible price. Known as the F77, this fully-electric motorcycle has the potential to be one of the most important watershed models of the decade.

Constructed around a steel trellis frame with an aluminum headstock, the F77’s chassis has been paired with an inverted fork and a gas-charged mono-shock. Powering the F77 is a 25-kW (~33.5-hp) passively air-cooled interior PMAC motor that generates up to 332ft-lbs of torque, allowing for a 0-60mph time of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of just over 90mph. The F77’s motor draws from a trio of modular Li-ion energy modules with a 4.2-kWh capacity that affords a range of up to 95 miles and can receive a full charge in as little as 1.5 hours (or 5 hours using a standard charger). Built to MIL-STD-spec, the battery pack also benefits from the use of a proprietary heat dissipation technology, a patented battery safety system, and an IP67-rated bi-directional high-current connector.

Absolutely loaded with tech, the F77 features Bluetooth compatibility, connectivity to dedicated iOS and Android smartphone apps, 256-bit encryption, BLS4 automated battery control, locking, and ejection systems, a state-of-the-art nine-axis IMU, LTE connectivity, a trio of ride modes, a TFT display with adaptive brightness, UV Automotive Linux dashboard OS, all-LED lighting, a lock-down mode, GPS/GLONASS positioning, automated emergency contact alerts, and a fall and crash sensor. What’s more, customizable performance parameters, ride analysis, remote diagnostics, and over-the-air upgrades have all been seamlessly integrated into this beginner-friendly motorcycle. Boasting a curb weight of only 348lbs, the F77 also sports a 31.5” seat height, a 52.75” wheelbase, an integrated forged aluminum kickstand, a reverse parking function, and disc brakes with dual-channel ABS — making it India’s first ABS-equipped eBike.

Slated for a release in the final quarter of 2022, the Ultraviolette Automotive F77 Electric Motorcycle is currently available for preorder, with pricing reportedly set at ₹300,000 (~$3,785) — making it cheaper than a Royal Enfield Himalayan and only $500 more than the Honda Grom. Sadly, the F77 won’t be sold on U.S. shores — at least not initially, though this could eventually change.
